International Beethoven Master Classes Bonn

From 2009 onwards the Beethoven-Haus will offer international Beethoven Master Classes in co-operation with the Beethoven-Orchester Bonn and the Conductors Forum of the German Council of Music.

Conducting and chamber music classes funded by the German Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media will be held alternately in Bonn.

The classes are devised for international advanced students, young musicians and ensembles with few years of experience. The rehearsals are open to the public and each class includes a final concert.

In comprehensive source studies complementing the classes, researchers of the Beethoven-Archive will introduce the participants into working with Beethoven's manuscripts and other significant sources from the collection of the Beethoven-Haus. Philological and historical questions as well as matters of performance practice will be discussed with the young musicians, encouraging them to deal closely with Beethoven's compositions and develop new interpretation approaches.
